In December 2014 Element Power was granted planning permission by Dumfries and Galloway Council to construct the Twentyshilling Hill Wind Farm on Craigdarroch Farm, 4.5km south of Sanquhar.

Over the previous four years the Element Power Team had consulted with local communities and statutory consultees to develop an appropriate wind farm on an excellent site.

In May 2016 the UK Government’s Energy Bill received Royal Assent, bringing forward the closure of the Renewable Obligations Scheme for new onshore wind developments such as Twentyshilling Hill.

Element Power acknowledges the local support the project continues to receive, which confirms the understanding of the substantial benefits that this scheme could bring to Upper Nithsdale.
